Duruitoarea Waterfall
The Duruitoarea Waterfall is in the Ceahlău massif, Neamț County, on the Rupturi stream. The water drops over two rock steps, between rock walls and forest, and the loud roar of the fall gave the place its name. Here the Ceahlău conglomerate forms ledges and steep faces, which contrast with the shaded paths nearby.
One of the marked routes to the waterfall starts from Durău and passes through Poiana Viezuri. Duruitoarea is on a mountain route that continues to the high area of the massif, so the length and difficulty of the trip depend on where you choose to turn back. Getting there means walking on a trail, with hiking boots and gear suited to the weather. Check trail conditions and seasonal restrictions with the Ceahlău National Park administration; continuing above the waterfall needs more planning than simply walking to the falls.
