Eagles' Lake

Eagle Lake is located in the Siriu Mountains, in Buzău County. The lake is located at approximately 1,420 meters above sea level, in a depression bordered by meadows and hills. It is also known as the Bottomless Lake, a name related to local stories that have long accompanied this mountain landmark.

The lake's water is fed by precipitation and springs, and the surrounding landscape changes a lot between the green season and the snowy months. The way here is on mountain trails; access from the villages in the foothills can mean a trip of several hours. From Chiojdu, the mentioned walking time for the ascent is approximately seven hours, depending on the route and conditions. Choosing the starting point, checking the weather and orientation on the marked route are necessary before departure, especially when the visibility on the ridges of Siriu is reduced.
