Ecaterina Teodoroiu Memorial House
The Ecaterina Teodoroiu memorial house is located in the Vădeni district of Târgu Jiu, on the boulevard that bears the heroine's name. The family home, built in 1884, preserves the proportions of a traditional home from Gorj, with a high roof and a wooden porch. The rooms evoke the environment in which Ecaterina grew up, before her participation in the battles of the First World War.
The exhibition includes photographs, documents, personal items and pieces of furniture that follow the life and military activity of Ecaterina Teodoroiu. Memorial materials are presented in the limited space of the house, alongside household objects. The visit thus connects the history of the family with the destiny of the young woman who became known as the Heroine of Jiu.
