Ecaterina Teodoroiu Statue in Slatina

The statue of Ecaterina Teodoroiu from Slatina is a commemorative monument from the interwar period, made by the sculptor Dumitru Mățăoanu. The First World War heroine is depicted in uniform, gun in left hand and helmet raised in right hand. The bronze figure rises above a stone plinth, set on a stepped base.

The monument also commemorates the soldiers of the 43rd Infantry Regiment who fell in the war. The names of some officers and soldiers are inscribed on the plates of the plinth, and the main inscription evokes Ecaterina Teodoroiu's journey from scout to platoon commander. The statue can be seen in the public space, together with the reliefs and inscriptions on the base of the monument.
