Elisabeta Park in Sfântu Gheorghe
Elisabeta Park is located in the center of Sfântu Gheorghe municipality. Its development began in the 1890s, on the site of a former market, at the initiative of prefect József Potsa. The space was organized in the manner of an English park, with trees, lawns and paths. In 1899, oaks and willows were planted in memory of Empress Elisabeta.
Chestnut-lined paths and mature trees provide the setting for walks through the park today. Sculptures and monuments are placed in the green space, including the obelisk erected in 1874 in memory of the revolution of 1848. The park underwent renovation works in 2010. Its central position connects it to the surrounding squares and historic buildings, and the paths provide a walking route through this part of the city.
