Elisabeta Villa in Băile Herculane

Băile Herculane, Caraș-Severin

Vila Elisabeta is located on Cernei street in Băile Herculane, near the old spa center. Built in 1875 according to the design of the architect Carl von Doderer, the villa has an eclectic composition, with a tower facing the street and terraces facing Cerna. In 1887 it hosted the Empress Elisabeth of Austria, known as Sisi, during a stay at the resort.

The building is distinguished by its different volumes, high windows and clock tower, elements that can be followed from the public route in front of the facade. The terraces towards the river complete the composition of the villa and its connection with the landscape of the resort. The monument requires conservation work; the exterior can be seen from the street, and the interior has no confirmed public access.
