Ethnographic Museum in Vatra Dornei
The Museum of Ethnography in Vatra Dornei occupies part of the ground floor of the Municipal Palace, the town hall building on Mihai Eminescu street. The collections trace the household and crafts of the Bucovina mountain area, through furniture, tools, ceramics, fabrics and folk wear. The reconstituted peasant interiors show how the objects were placed in the rooms of a traditional house.
Shepherding and timber rafting have a distinct place in the exhibition, being occupations related to the mountains and waters of the Țara Dornelor. Visitors also encounter masks, decorated eggs, objects used in weddings and utensils made of metal or bone. Ceramics and textiles complement the presentation of household work with details of decoration and clothing. The museum circuit takes place in the exhibition rooms of the building.
