Fila Brasileiro
Brazil
The Fila Brasileiro is a giant Brazilian molossus, used for guarding, working with herds and hunting large animals. It is brave, determined and extraordinarily loyal: with its family it is docile and very tolerant with children, but with strangers it is reserved by nature. It is a breed for very experienced owners and is subject to legal restrictions: as checked on 6 November 2026, GOV.UK lists it among banned types, with certified exemptions, while Romania places it in category II under Emergency Ordinance No. 55/2002.
