Fortified Church in Mănărade

Mănărade, Alba

The fortified church in Mănărade, a village that is part of the municipality of Blaj, preserves its medieval defensive wall and gate tower. The tower became a bell tower in 1832, and the church has had its present form since 1869.

The stone baptismal font survives from the old early fifteenth-century Gothic church. Since the Saxons left, the Evangelical church has been used by the village's Greek Catholic community.
