Fortified Church in Sânzieni

The Sânzieni fortified church is located in Sânzieni commune, Covasna county, and is dedicated to the Holy Spirit. The Roman Catholic church retains medieval elements, altered in several stages. It is surrounded by a defensive enclosure with walls and four cylindrical towers, which make the complex distinctive.

The church building combines traces of Gothic architecture with later alterations, including Baroque elements. Inside is an eighteenth-century organ. The walls and towers show how the church served as a refuge for the community. The complex is listed as a historical monument and is still the village's parish church.
