Fortified Reformed Church in Sfântu Gheorghe
The fortified reformed church of Sfântu Gheorghe rises on a hill in the old part of the city. The building preserves Gothic elements and is surrounded by a defensive enclosure. The ensemble had two rows of walls; the outer enclosure was dismantled in the eighteenth century and the stone was used to build a school.
Around the church is a historic cemetery with funerary monuments and carved wooden pillars. The walls, tower and church building can be traced together to understand the organization of the fortified complex. The church is used by the reformed community. For the full visit, including access to the interior and the spaces of the ensemble, an appointment with the administrator is required.
