Gallery of Notable People in Fălticeni

The Gallery of Famous People from Fălticeni occupies the house of the Lovinescu family on Sucevei street. The house was donated by the writers Horia and Vasile Lovinescu for the setting up of a museum, opened in 1972 under the guidance of Eugen Dimitriu. The exhibition brings together documents, books, photographs and works of art related to personalities who were born or worked in the city.

Among the names evoked are Eugen Lovinescu, Mihail Sadoveanu, Nicolae Labiș, Grigore Vasiliu-Birlic, Ion Irimescu and Vasile Ciurea. Part of the heritage comes from the old Museum of Fălticeni. The rooms of the house present contributions from literature, theater, fine arts and science, so the visit moves from family documents to the history of local cultural institutions. The building retains a symmetrical facade and a central entrance accentuated by the pediment.
