Ghika Castle in Dofteana
Dofteana, Bacău
Ghika Castle is located in Dofteana commune, Bacău county, on an estate with a park. The residence was built at the end of the nineteenth century for the Ghika family and was used as a hunting lodge. The facades, with towers and uneven volumes, preserve the building's Romantic look.
The complex includes the castle and the park, both listed as historical monuments. The residence was commissioned by Neculai N. Ghika, who brought in an Italian architect for the project. The Romantic style shows in the towers, the high roofs and the irregular grouping of the building's wings.
