Gura Portiței

Gura Portiței is located in Jurilovca commune, Tulcea county, on the strip of sand between the Black Sea and Golovița lake. The place started as a fishing settlement and fish-processing station, on the edge of the Razim-Sinoe lagoon system, in the territory of the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve.

On the sea side, the beach stretches, and towards the lake appear the glint of water, reeds and boats. The name preserves the memory of the old link between the lake and the sea, closed in the twentieth century. The low buildings of the tourist complex and the pontoon stand on this narrow tongue of land between two different waterscapes.
