Harry has begun to suspect dangers even within the school, but Dumbledore is more concerned with training and preparing him for the now-inevitable final confrontation. Together, they must find Voldemort's weakness and ultimately destroy him. A friend and former colleague of Dumbledore's, Professor Horace Slughorn, brings crucial information to help them. Meanwhile, the students are overwhelmed by raging hormones. Harry is increasingly attracted to Ginny, but Dean Thomas is his rival. Lavender Brown has decided that Ron is the one for her, while Hermione is jealous and determined not to reveal her feelings for him under any circumstances.
