In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry returns for his fifth year at Hogwarts and discovers that almost all wizards refuse to believe he encountered Lord Voldemort. Fearing that the venerable Hogwarts headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, is lying about Voldemort's return to undermine him and take his position, Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge appoints a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher to keep watch on Dumbledore. But the class proves ineffective at protecting students against the dark forces threatening them, so, helped by Hermione and Ron, Harry takes matters into his own hands. Meeting secretly with a group of students calling themselves Dumbledore's Army, Harry teaches them to defend themselves against the Dark Arts, preparing the brave young wizards for the extraordinary battle ahead.
