History of Pharmacy Museum in Sibiu

In Piața Mică in Sibiu, the Pharmacy History Museum occupies a house where the "La Ursul Negru" pharmacy operated. The exhibition was opened in 1972 and presents objects collected from old pharmacies, in a city where this profession is documented since 1494.

The first room recreates the customer reception area, with pharmacy furniture made in Vienna. In the laboratory you can see balances, mortars, containers for substances, presses and tools for the preparation of medicines. Books and documents round out the collection, along with historic vials illustrating pharmaceutical practices from centuries past.
