Holy Archangels Church in Târgu Jiu
Târgu Jiu, Gorj
The Church of the Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel is located in Piața Victoriei in Târgu Jiu, in front of the Administrative Palace. The locals also call it the Merchants' Church, because it was built by the town's merchants between 1748 and 1764, on the site of a church from 1717.
Ancient philosophers and prophets are painted on the exterior walls, and the painter Iosif Keber also worked on the painting. The church has two towers and a porch with arches on white columns.
