Holy Mother of God Armenian Church in Târgu Ocna

Târgu Ocna, Bacău

The Armenian Church of the Holy Mother of God in Târgu Ocna is located in the Văleni area and dates back to 1825. The church belongs to the history of the Armenian merchant community established in the city. A wooden Armenian church was already recorded here at the beginning of the nineteenth century, before the construction of the preserved building.

The silhouette of the church consists of the elongated body, the nave spire and the bell tower above the western entrance. On the south side is an open portico with columns and pediment, and the courtyard retains old tombstones. The church is presented by the Armenian Archdiocese as being under conservation; a visit inside must be arranged in advance with community representatives.
