Holy Trinity Church in Făgăraș

Făgăraș, Brașov

The Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity in Făgăraș is located on Ioan Codru Drăgușanu Street, formerly called Greek Street. Construction began in 1782, with the support of Romanian and Greek merchants, and the tower was erected in 1791. The facades combine niches, pilasters and baroque forms with elements of the Brâncovenesc tradition.

In the altar and on the arches of the church, old paintings are preserved, restored at the end of the twentieth century and the beginning of the next. The current iconostasis was made in 1950–1951, and the interior contains a wooden pulpit depicting the twelve apostles, as well as icons from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The doors retain old hardware. The place continues to be used by the Orthodox community, so the visit is done respecting the services.
