Holy Trinity Church in Jigodin
In Jigodin, a district of the Miercurea Ciuc municipality, the Holy Trinity Church preserves walls and details from the Gothic building built in the fifteenth century. The Mikó family supported its expansion in 1707, and transformations in the eighteenth century gave it a baroque appearance. However, the portals, windows and vault of the sanctuary preserve elements of the medieval construction.
In the sanctuary there is an altar with movable panels, made in 1673, whose wings illustrate scenes from the life and Passion of Jesus. The statue of the Virgin Mary is older, being dated to the beginning of the sixteenth century. Among the pieces of liturgical furniture, the pulpit and the baptismal font stand out. The low enclosure wall follows the land around the church and the stone tower was erected in 1800.
