Holy Trinity Monastery in Bic

Bic, Sălaj

The Monastery of the Holy Trinity from Bic is located in a clearing on the edge of the locality of Bic, belonging to the city of Șimleu Silvaniei, in Sălaj county. Construction of the monastery began in 1994. The courtyard brings together the wooden church, the new church, cells and flower gardens, and the community of nuns carries out monastic life and support activities for the community here.

The old church was built in 1778 in Stâna and moved to Bic in 1997. It preserves fragments of the painting made in 1795 by Ioan Pop from Unguraș and Precup Pop, as well as the carved portal and wooden porch. The wooden shrine is dedicated to the Dormition of the Mother of God; among the pilgrimage celebrations of the monastery is the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist.
