Horea's Wooden Church in Băile Olănești

Băile Olănești, Vâlcea

The wooden church of Horea in Băile Olănești was built in 1746 in Albac, in the Apuseni Mountains. In 1907 it was moved to Florica, on the estate of the Brătianu family, and in 1954 it was brought to the Vâlcea resort. The consecration on the current site took place in 1958. The beams, shingle roof and slender tower preserve the appearance of a Transylvanian wooden church.

The church is located in the eastern part of the resort, on sloping ground. The interior painting was done after the move to Olănești and restored later. The name by which it is known recalls the connection with Albac and Horea; the church remains a religious monument, with services, and access depends on the parish schedule.
