HTC

The first phone on the market to run Android, the HTC Dream (also sold as the T-Mobile G1), was made by HTC, a Taiwanese company founded in 1997. In 2011 it became the largest smartphone vendor in the United States, but it then lost ground to Samsung and Apple. In 2017 it sold roughly half of its design team to Google for 1.1 billion dollars.
