Huțulca Narrow-Gauge Railway

Moldovița, Suceava

Mocănița Huțulca leaves from Moldovița, Suceava county, on a narrow-gauge railway originally built for the transport of wood. The history of the line begins in 1888, when the logs from the valley's forests were brought to the sawmill by forestry trains, on tracks adapted to the mountainous terrain.

Today, the tourist trains traverse the area of Bucovina villages and forests, and the operator runs services with steam or diesel locomotives, on different routes. The station, the rolling stock and the road along the valley keep the connection with the old logging. For the trip, the operator requires a reservation and asks passengers to check the chosen service in its calendar.
