Ioan and Elisabeta Țugui Wooden Spoon Museum

Câmpulung Moldovenesc, Suceava

The Ioan and Elisabeta Țugui Museum of Wooden Spoons is located on Gheorghe Popovici Street in Câmpulung Moldovenesc. Professor Ioan Țugui collected spoons from Romania and many other countries for over three decades. The collection includes simple specimens, for household use, but also richly carved pieces, very different in size, shape and type of wood.

In addition to the finished objects, the presentation follows the craftsman's work: the tools, the choice of wood and the stages in which it is shaped into a spoon. Romanian specimens can be compared with those from Japan, China, Mexico or New Zealand. The same collection brings together everyday objects and decorative pieces with long handles, geometric motifs or carved details. As it is a private museum, visits are arranged in advance.
