Ipotești Memorial

Ipotești, Botoșani

In Ipotești village, Mihai Eminescu commune, Botoșani County, the Ipotești Memorial keeps alive the memory of the poet's childhood. The complex is built around the house rebuilt on the foundations of the Eminovici family home. The current building was inaugurated in 1979, after it was rebuilt using documents about the poet's childhood home.

The grounds include the family church, the Papadopol House, museum spaces and the National Poetry Library. The collections preserve family objects, documents and materials related to Mihai Eminescu's work. The Papadopol House holds ethnographic objects, and the family cemetery contains the graves of the poet's parents, Gheorghe and Raluca Eminovici.
