Karolyi Castle

In the center of Carei municipality, Satu Mare county, Károlyi Castle is recognizable by its towers of different shapes and heights. The current appearance comes from the transformation of the baroque residence at the end of the nineteenth century, according to the plans of the architect Arthur Meinig.

Inside you can visit the exhibitions of historical interiors and local history. The reception hall occupies the former inner courtyard, covered with massive painted beams. The rooms furnished with period furniture present the life of an aristocratic residence.

The restoration of the castle was completed in 2011. The museum also houses an exhibition of African trophies, along with temporary exhibitions. For a guided visit, the museum requires a prior telephone appointment.
