Kemény Castle in Brâncovenești
Kemény Castle is located in Brâncovenești commune, Mureș county, on a terrace above the Mureș river. The residence went through several stages of construction, and took its Renaissance form in the sixteenth century. The square main block, the inner courtyard and the corner towers recall its defensive role.
The stone-framed windows and massive walls can be seen from the estate's park. In 1926, the Helikon literary circle was formed here, at the initiative of Count János Kemény. The meetings of Hungarian writers from Transylvania linked the history of the castle to the interwar cultural life of the region.
