Kretzulescu Church

Bucharest

The Kretzulescu Church is located on Calea Victoriei, near Revolution Square, in Bucharest. It was built between 1720 and 1722 by Iordache Crețulescu and his wife Safta, the daughter of Constantin Brâncoveanu. The building preserves elements of the Brâncovenesc style, including the open porch and the ornaments around the windows.

The brick facade is divided into registers, with panels and elongated arches. Towers rise above the main body of the church, and the entrance rests on columns. Inside there are fragments of the original frescoes and the votive painting by Gheorghe Tattarescu, with the portraits of the founders.
