Lacu Sărat

Chiscani Commune, Brăila

The Lacu Sărat resort is in Chiscani commune, Brăila County, southwest of the city of Brăila. It grew up on the shore of a lake with salt water and sapropelic mud, both used for spa treatments. The embankment of an industrial railway divided the lake basin in two, and the resort lies on the edge of the northern part.

Leisure facilities and treatment centers line the shore, alongside the resort’s wooded areas. The resort’s park is home to Saint Pantelimon Monastery, with a wooden church. The amount of water in the lake varies during dry and rainy periods, changing the extent of the exposed banks.
