The Leonberger is a very large, powerful and muscular but elegant German dog with long, lion-yellow or reddish fur and a black mask. It was created in Leonberg, near Stuttgart, to resemble a lion, the animal on the city's coat of arms. The standard describes him as friendly with children, obedient and fearless.
