Măcin Mountains National Park
Măcin Mountains, Tulcea
Măcinului Mountains National Park protects old peaks and steppe landscapes in the northwest of Tulcea county. The low peaks are the remnants of a heavily eroded mountain range; rocky ridges and dry meadows rise directly above the Dobrogean plain.
Pricopanului Ridge has rounded granite blocks and views of the Danube and the town of Măcin. In the Greci area, the trails climb towards Țuțuiatu, the highest peak of the massif. The dry meadows, forests and rocky outcrops shelter a great diversity of plants and animals, at the meeting between the steppe and forest habitats.
