Măgura Sculpture Camp
Haleș, Buzău
In the clearings near Ciolanu Monastery, in Haleș village in Tisău commune, Buzău county, the Măgura Sculpture Camp brings together monumental stone works. The project was initiated by the sculptor Gheorghe Coman and was carried out between 1970 and 1985, with the support of the Romanian Fine Artists’ Union.
On the sloping land you can see human figures, abstract shapes and groups of sculptures, placed between the trees and at the edge of the forest. The works were made of local stone and donated to the county. The open-air museum is administered by the Muzeul Județean Buzău, which indicates access to this attraction at all times.
