Maremma and Abruzzes Sheepdog
Italy
The Maremmano-Abruzzese Shepherd is a large, strong and rustic white Italian dog with long, coarse fur and a head reminiscent of a polar bear. For centuries, shepherds in Abruzzo and Maremma have been using it to protect their sheep from wolves. The standard describes him as a shrewd guard, devoted to his master and all his entourage.
