Maria Filotti Theatre

The Maria Filotti Theater is located in the center of Brăila, in Brăila County, in a historic building connected to the old Rally Theatre. The auditorium, with tiers of boxes and rich decorations, is complemented by foyers, staircases and lounges. The building has undergone extensions and renovations since the nineteenth century.

Artists such as Hariclea Darclée and George Enescu appeared on its stage. Since 1969, the institution has borne the name of the actress Maria Filotti, who began her career at the Brăila theater. Performances in the main hall and the studio hall carry on the theater’s work in one of the landmark buildings of the old city center.
