Matei Basarab's Stone Cross in Ștefănești
Ștefănești, Argeș
The stone cross of Matei Basarab is in front of the Cultural Center in Ștefănești. Its inscription recalls the ruler’s decision on the vinărici, the tax paid by wine producers.
The cross shows how long grapevines have been grown on the hills of Ștefănești, still known today for its vineyards.
