Mausoleum in Mateiaș
Valea Mare Pravăț, Argeș
The Mateiaș mausoleum is located on DN73, in Valea Mare Pravăț commune, Argeş county, near Câmpulung. Built between 1928 and 1935 according to the plans of the architects Dimitrie Ionescu-Berechet and State Baloșin, the monument commemorates the Romanian soldiers who fought in this area during the First World War.
The stairs lead to the mausoleum, and at the base of the complex there are two exhibition halls. The documents and the diorama show the battles of the fall of 1916. On the outside you can see the bas-relief made by the sculptor Radu Adrian; inside, the mosaics replaced the damaged painting by Olga Greceanu.
