Meziad Cave
The Meziad Cave is located near the village of Meziad, in the Remetea commune of Bihor County, in the Pădurea Craiului Mountains. The wide entrance opens up a system of galleries arranged on two levels, with high halls and portions where the routes overlap. Stalactites, stalagmites and limestone deposits give different shapes to the walls and ceilings, and the size of the rooms is one of the things that distinguish the cave from other cavities in the area.
Cave bear bones and traces of prehistoric human presence, including pottery fragments, have been discovered inside. The cave is a monument of nature and is located in a protected area of Pădurea Craiului. Visiting is done in groups accompanied by a guide, on the circuit open to the public. Shoes with grippy soles and a thicker coat are useful for wet passages and underground temperatures.
