Mihai Băcescu Water Museum
The Mihai Băcescu Museum of Waters is located in Fălticeni, Suceava county, in a building that housed the court of the former Baia county. Opened here in 1982, the museum presents the aquatic world and the work of Romanian researchers such as Emil Racoviță, Grigore Antipa and Mihai Băcescu. An important part of the collection comes from the donations of the oceanographer after whom it is named.
The visit goes from shells, corals, crustaceans and preserved fish to dioramas and pools with live animals. The geographical globe made by professor Neculai Isaic shows both the relief of the continents and the one under the oceans. This exhibit helps trace the connection between seafloor shapes and the land surface. The collections bring together pieces from the Black Sea and other seas and oceans, along with information on the research of aquatic life.
