Mihai Eminescu Center in Bârlad

The Mihai Eminescu Center in Bârlad operates in Casa Roșie, on Republicii street, in a building built at the end of the nineteenth century for the educator Ioan Popescu, director of the teacher training school. The exposed brick facade, the white details around the windows and the high roof set it apart from the neighboring buildings. After several uses, the house was restored in 2011.

The collection dedicated to Mihai Eminescu, donated by the doctor Constantin Teodorescu, is presented inside. The center belongs to the Stroe S. Belloescu Municipal Library and is open to the public for visiting the collection and cultural activities. The house was not the poet's home: the connection with Eminescu is given by the heritage gathered and exhibited here.
