Moldovița Monastery

The Moldovița monastery is located in the Vatra Moldoviței commune, Suceava county. The "Annunciation" Church, founded by Petru Rareș in 1532, is surrounded by defensive walls and towers and is part of the group of painted churches of Bucovina listed in the UNESCO world heritage.

The exterior frescoes include the Siege of Constantinople, the Tree of Jesse and numerous biblical scenes. The open porch, arches and painted decoration can be traced on the facades of the church. In the courtyard of the monastery is the sacristy, a building from the beginning of the seventeenth century used to store vestments, books and church objects.
