Mountainous Banat Museum in Reșița

Reșița, Caraș-Severin

The Banatul Montan Museum is located on Republicii Boulevard in Reșița, in a building designed by the architect Șerban Antonescu. The geometric volumes and the organization of the interior spaces make the headquarters itself a landmark of the city's architecture. The heritage of the institution traces the history of the region, through archaeological, numismatic collections and testimonies about the development of the communities of the Banatul Montan.

The museum spaces were reopened to the public in September 2026, after modernization and energy-efficiency upgrades. The event included an exhibition dedicated to the history of the building and those who made it. The visit can focus on the exhibitions available during the chosen period; their schedule is published by the museum, as temporary presentations change and not all pieces in the collections are on display at the same time.
