Municipal Palace in Buzău

Buzău, Buzău

The Municipal Palace dominates Piața Daciei in Buzău with its clock tower and richly decorated facades. Built between 1899 and 1903, it was designed by Alexandru Săvulescu, and work continued after his death under the supervision of Siegfried Kofsinski. The inauguration took place in the presence of King Carol I and Prince Ferdinand. The building combines eclectic elements with shapes inspired by Romanian architecture.

On the outside, the carved stone columns and steps stand out, along with the marble decoration by Themistocle Vidali. Inside is the reception hall known for its Venetian decor. The palace houses Buzău City Hall, and the facades and the tower can be seen from the central square. Access to the administrative areas depends on the institution’s schedule.
