Municipal Theatre in Carei
The Municipal Theater in Carei occupies a building erected in 1907, in secessionist style, according to the project of the architect Kopeczek György. It is located on Iuliu Maniu street and has, over time, had the names Gáll József and Carmen Sylva. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the local troupe mainly played operettas, and later the hall was also used for cinematographic projections.
The transformations in 1953 removed the boxes and changed the appearance of the building. The recent restoration reinstated them, returning the hall to its historic configuration. Since April 2016, the theater has once again hosted shows and concerts, in a 281-seat hall. The building can also be visited by prior appointment, according to the tourist center in Carei.
