Museum of Folk Architecture in Gorj
The Museum of Folk Architecture in Gorj is located in Curtișoara, part of the town of Bumbești-Jiu, Gorj County. The open-air museum brings together farmsteads and traditional buildings moved here from the villages of the region. At the center of the estate stands the Cornoiu cula, a fortified boyar residence.
The wooden houses have porches, high roofs and rooms fitted out with furniture and textiles. Barns, cellars and farm installations show the inhabitants' occupations, from farming to woodworking. The buildings are spread over wooded, uneven ground. The museum preserves examples of Gorj folk architecture, along with objects used in rural households.
