Museum of Military Traditions of Dâmbovița – Cavalry School
The Museum of Dâmbovița Military Traditions occupies the former Cavalry School in Târgoviște, on Carol I Boulevard. The building, built at the beginning of the twentieth century for military education, was restored and reopened as a museum in 2025. The exhibition traces the military history of the city and the school's heritage through uniforms, weapons, photographs, documents and objects that belonged to the officers. The rooms also present the connection between Târgoviște and the history of Wallachia.
A distinct part of the visit is dedicated to the events of December 1989. On the ground floor, the spaces associated with the detention and trial of the Ceaușescus are kept, and in the courtyard is the place of execution. Visitors should pay close attention to the explanations and historical context. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions, so the route may include, depending on the chosen period, additional themes of history and local heritage.
