Nagy Imre Memorial House in Jigodin
Nagy Imre Memorial House is located in Jigodin, in the southern part of Miercurea Ciuc municipality. The painter's residence preserves his furniture, books and working objects. In the rooms are brushes, photographs, letters, records and objects related to fishing and beekeeping. The last unfinished painting is among the works that can be seen in the house.
Nagy Imre painted the people and landscapes of the Ciuc area, returning in his works to the life of the Szekler village. In 1973, when the artist turned 80, a gallery for his work was built near his birthplace. The memorial ensemble thus brings together the home and the exhibition space. In the yard is the painter's tomb, and the house has a gable roof and large windows to the living rooms.
