Naked mole-rat
Heterocephalus glaber
This almost hairless rodent digs its tunnels underground in the Horn of Africa and parts of Kenya. It lives in colonies where only a few members breed, while the others work and care for the young. Its skin does not feel pain, it lives unusually long for a rodent, and it resists cancer and lack of oxygen.
