National Museum of the Romanian Navy
The National Museum of the Romanian Navy is located on Traian Street in Constanța, in the building of the former Naval School. Opened to the public in 1969, the museum traces the history of navigation and the military and merchant marine. The route starts from the old boats and reaches the ships and maritime institutions of the modern era.
In the rooms are exhibited models of sailing ships and steamships, navigational instruments, uniforms, maps and documents. A monoxyl, meaning a boat hollowed out of a single tree trunk, illustrates an ancient way of traveling on water. Models of ports and ships complement information about shipyards and trade. In the courtyard of the museum there are pieces of naval technology, anchors, propellers and engines, which allow observing the real dimensions of the equipment used on ships.
